Mission & Service Fund

The members of the congregation of Thornhill United Church can designate a portion of their givings to be assigned to the Mission and Service (M&S) of the United Church of Canada. Our gifts for Mission and Service (M&S) are a sign of compassion for the world, and they build community and offer hope.

Using the UCC New Creed for guidance, the following is a partial list of how our donations are used:

Called to be the Church: M&S supports Theological schools and ministry training.
Love and Serve Others: M&S supports emergency relief in response to disasters; supports chaplaincy for prisons and hospitals, supports work with other Christian churches on matters of justice, peace and human dignity.
Live with Respect in Creation: M&S supports environmental stewardship, work for right relationships with the earth, and development of respect for all peoples.
Seek Justice and Resist Evil: M&S supports the United Church’s response to globalization-Challenging the Empire, advocacy for justice, and addressing causes of conflict.
