Thornhill United Church has a well stocked lending library. There is a wonderful team of librarians who are ready to welcome you on a Sunday morning and there is often a recommended read in the bulletin announcements.
During our 10:30 worship service, there is Sunday School for children. The curriculum varies based on the class; Beginners use Godly Play (JK to Grade2), the Primary and Intermediate classes use Seasons of the Spirit (Grades 3-5, and 6-8). Our Sunday school program is dedicated to supporting the faith development of our children and youth in ways that are interesting, nurturing and fun.
In order to become a full member of the church, a person goes through a process called "confirmation". This is offered to youth and adults (starting at around age 13) and involves a series of classes about the beliefs of the United Church. Following this, the candidate makes a public profession of faith before the congregation, thereby "confirming" the statements made by his or her parents during baptism. If the person is unbaptised, the minister baptises the person before the profession of faith. The new member's name is then entered on the official Roll of Members for that congregation. Classes at TUC are usually offered in the Spring and run for at least 6 weeks. If you are interested in becoming confirmed, please call the church office for more information.
