TUC FREE HOT DOG TUESDAY

Every month, on a chosen Tuesday, we open our doors to the youth in our neighbourhood.  We live by the profound message from Matthew 22:37-39, "Love your neighbour as yourself."  It's a moment when we come together to serve our neighbors, especially the youth who represent the vibrant future of our community.

Community Outreach!

Through TUC FREE HOT DOG TUESDAY, we aim to reach out to young people, offering them not only a warm hot dog but also a warm welcome, a sense of belonging, and a reminder of being loved.  On a typical Tuesday, we are blessed to welcome 180-230 kids from our community.

Gratitude to Volunteers, Contributors, and Sponsors!

TUC FREE HOT DOG TUESDAY is made possible by the dedication and love of approximately 15-20 volunteers who selflessly give their time and energy each month. They are the heart and soul of TUC FREE HOT DOG TUESDAY, embodying God's mission and love. Their support ensures that we can continue this vital outreach to our young neighbors.

We love God through serving our neighbors.

In serving our neighbors, we express our love for God. It is the essence of our ministry. Hot Dog Tuesday is a tangible example of how we live out our faith.

Church Library

Thornhill United Church has a lending library. Congregants can sign out books of interest for a period of four weeks.

Sunday School

Our Sunday School program is committed to nurturing the faith development of our children and youth in ways that are engaging, nurturing, and enjoyable.

Schedule

Sunday School coincides with our in-person worship service on Sundays.

Sunday School for JK-Grade 8

We offer Sunday School for children from Junior Kindergarten (JK) to Grade 8. Our curriculum explores God's love and growth in Jesus. Through age-appropriate discussions, crafts, games, and various activities, we facilitate children to integrate faith into their daily lives. Our dedicated Sunday School teachers engage children with activities, prayers, and a delightful feast!

High School Class

Our High School class meets twice a month for meaningful discussions about life and faith. They actively participate in various projects, including fundraising initiatives, designing greeting cards, and writing letters to support our foster child.

We warmly invite you to join us for a faith-filled and enriching Sunday School experience.

TUC Youth Group

The Thornhill United Church Youth Group is open to youth and teens in grades 5-12. We typically meet about once a month, usually on Friday evenings. Our activities include Art Jam, Movies and Popcorn, Zine Making, Photography Night, and Pumpkin Carving. Occasionally, we venture offsite for activities such as apple picking, skating, and more!

Focus Time Video

Focus Time Video will be featured during our worship service, enhancing the worship experience. Additionally, these videos will be shared online, potentially going viral, and reaching a global audience. With its mobility and scalability, it resonates with both the young and the young at heart. Video is a powerful communication tool, especially for the younger generation. It captivates their attention and sustains their focus, fostering meaningful connections. Studies confirm its effectiveness as a medium for spiritual growth in both children and adults.

Confirmation:

This is offered to youth and adults (starting at around age 13) and involves a series of classes about the beliefs of the United Church.

Following this, the candidate makes a public profession of faith before the congregation, thereby "confirming" the statements made by his or her parents during baptism. If the person is unbaptised, the minister baptises the person before the profession of faith. The new member's name is then entered on the official Roll of Members for that congregation.

If you are interested in becoming confirmed, please call the church office for more information.

Seasonal Book Studies

During Lent and Advent, we offer a 3-4 week book study to foster spiritual growth. You'll have the opportunity to share your questions not only with the Christian Development Minister but also with the authors themselves. As a special treat, we host 'Meet-the-Author' events during our book study sessions.

We encourage you to participate and enrich your spiritual journey through these insightful book studies.

Intergenerational Gatherings

We celebrate togetherness across all ages. These gatherings bring together members of our church community from different generations, creating an enriching and vibrant atmosphere where all are valued and welcomed. We encourage children, parents, grandparents, and everyone in between to come together for special events.

Art Exhibitions

Just as God's creation is diverse and rich, our art exhibitions celebrate creative expressions. We are blessed with artists who use various mediums to interpret God's beauty and love. God is creative. As image bearers of God, we are born to be creative too!

We are excited to exhibit the talents and creativity of our community of faith through our art exhibitions. The art exhibition is not just an opportunity to appreciate beautiful artwork. It is a celebration of God's creativity that dwells within us all.

Come and join us for a time of fellowship and fun. Feel free to bring a friend. For more information, please reach out to the Christian Development Minister.
